For many products, CBP is not the only agency that decides whether goods can move. These are called participating government agencies, or PGAs. For food, the common one is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

What FDA adds to a food entry. Prior notice of the shipment, product and manufacturer information that matches the invoice, and facility registration where it applies. FDA can also review or examine the goods. Prior notice timing depends on how the goods arrive, and for trucks it is short, so it cannot be left to the plaza. [VERIFY_WITH_CLIENT]

How we work. We already work product evaluation and FDA-aware entries with food clients. We ask for the product and manufacturer data once, set it up on your account and reuse it on repeat loads. The agency data goes onto the entry before the truck arrives, not after.

What happens next. You send the product facts and the invoice. We tell you what is missing, file the entry with the agency data, and watch for release and for any request from the agency.

What we need from you:

  • The full product description, including ingredients and packaging where they affect the category
  • The manufacturer's name and address
  • FDA registration details for the facility, where they apply
  • The commercial invoice and packing list
  • How often you ship the product and by which crossing
  • Any certificates or permits you already hold
